Secretsundaze is renown amongst those who love techno and house music and has built up a well deserved reputation over its six year history as one of the best places to be and party on a Sunday.
Their latest night or should I say day was last Sunday at The Light Bar in Shoreditch. I’ve always loved The Light Bar as a venue and the fact that half of it is in an open air courtyard it is the perfect venue for a Secretsundaze session with the line up including Giles Smith, James Priestley and the legendary Onur Ozer (Vakant).
If you haven’t heard of him previously, Onur Ozer is a Turkish artist who over the last five years has become a major player in the Techno world. Tracks from his album on Vakant have been remixed by 2000 and One and forthcoming by none other than Isolee and Baby Ford. He also produces with Tobi Neumann as Sensitiva and DJs b2b from time to time with his friend Matthias Kaden.
Known for erring towards house music and party grooves when playing live he did not disappoint on Sunday with an equally appreciative crowd that grew larger as his set continued. Each new tune brought welcoming cheers from the crowd and demonstrated why Secretsundaze are kings of the Sunday sessions.
Still slightly jaded from the night previously we decided to take it easy and warm up slowly with a couple of drinks outside before hitting the dance floor. It was here that we found the answer to the long disputed issue of all London girls… ‘Where are all the hot men in London?’ I can tell you now ladies, we’ve found them and not just the odd one – all of them!
After this discovery and a couple of drinks we joined the ever growing crowd on the dance floor. The atmosphere was awesome and we immediately got straight back on it from the night previously.
The large glitterball over the dance floor and the friendly and overtly happy crowd made the atmosphere almost feel quite festive, and thoughts of the hangover from that morning were quickly replaced by suggestions of continuing on to the after party. This was until we realised that the ATM refused to give us any more money, and by this point the minor detail of turning up to work the next day.
If you missed this Sunday and fancy visiting sunnier shores now summer has officially ended in the UK then why not head down to their next event at La Terrazza in Barcelona on the 20th September. If that’s a bit too far for you to get your Sunday fix then don’t worry Secretsundaze are back at The Light Bar on 11th October and before that, on Sunday 27th September @ Village Underground.
