When Sounds Collide debut EP by Pete Nouveau
When Sounds Collide is the debut release on the Berlin based Elektrotribe label from Australian dj & producer, Pete Nouveau.
The When Sounds Collide EP consists of three original tracks Minus, Nouvacaine & Hang The Canary, plus Minus (Moog Conspiracy Mix) and Nouvacaine (Breger Mix).
Pete Nouveau has produced a great slice of rich house and ‘groovy’ minimal techno, good enough for any pulsing, deep trance club dancefloor, especially the original mix of Minus – love it. Minus is anthemic minimal techno at its best. It’s difficult to put into words why it works – it just does!
The Moog Conspiracy remix of Minus keeps the warped deep throbbing bass beat of the Original Mix, but uses effects as a filler. I prefer the more atmospheric Original Mix, with its repetitive, dark & moody open sound. Less is more here.
Nouvacaine errs further towards a house ‘groove’ . The Breger Mix is a good imporovement on the Original Mix.
The skipping, rolling drum beat of the final track, Hang The Canary again shows there is a funkier house element to Nouveau’s minimal techno production. Hang The Canary reminds me of Minilogue. Uplifting minimal techno with a house music vibe.
The When Sounds Collide EP has left me wanting to hear more from Pete Nouveau. I hope those good people at Elektrotribe have more releases lined up.
Pete Noveau – When Sounds Collide EP gets two big thumbs up from Buzzin Electronic Music and should be heard in all good minimal techno clubs this year.
Pete Noveau – When Sounds Collide EP is available now from Elektrotribe Records.
