Dahu - Deep In The Woods
Steyoyoke’s second release ‘Deep In The Woods’ by Dahu, is a perfect display of the labels love for eloquent and spontaneous House Music. Their music has a definite class that deserves its own coat of arms. The art work is always fascinating, bold and unique with its signature splash of ocean blue to ensure your senses are consistently pampered!
‘Deep In the Woods‘ is a haunting trail of eerie synth pads and echoing hi-hats culminating subtly into a drop that combines a drooling bass line with infrequent vocal snippets. Craftily blending a shuffling percussion with a resonating lead, Dahu creates a hypnotic journey reminiscent of rustling leaves and a walk through a dark wood at night.
‘Falun‘ is more upbeat in nature and takes the atmosphere in a new exciting direction but still retains a smokey feel throughout. Introduced with intangible vocal loops and the occasional horn stab, the song sets the mood for a more summery endeavour. In the breakdown a lazy piano arrangement provides the lethargic atmosphere where an echoey horn emerges from beneath.

Bedrock Underground Sound of Miami
Bedrock releases an exceptional Underground Sound Of Miami compilation, featuring 10 exclusive tracks from some of Bedrock’s favourite artists and some exciting new names to the Bedrock roster, in a DJ-friendly unmixed format. Having listened intently to Bedrocks finest for some time, John Digweeds recipe for success is plain to hear and extremely addictive!
“We’ve been wanting to do a Miami sampler for the last few years now, showcasing some of the great artists we work with on the label but other projects and releases got in the way of letting us do this. However this year we have been very fortunate to be in a position where we not only had some amazing music but also some time to get this organised so we could do it properly. I have also been able to road test all of the tracks at gigs since the start of January and the reactions to the music has been amazing so it seemed perfectly apt to put a release together that we can focus on around Miami and the Bedrock showcase parties there.” – John Digweed
“The wealth of artists involved is truly amazing and it was great to get Pig&Dan involved along with artists who we have worked with in the past, like Robert Babicz, Wehbba, Guy J and Stelios Vassiloudis. Ultimately, I’m really happy with the release and can foresee a lot of these tracks carrying on into the summer season for a lot of DJs.” – John Digweed
Once again, it’s hats off to Bedrock for raising the bar even higher with this exceptional compilation. In this day and age to not only survive as an independent label, but also to flourish and constantly evolve, bringing forward new and exciting talent, is something that should be applauded. I would recommend any newbie wannabes on the scene to choose your role models and leaders wisely! John Digweed is without doubt a shining example of not only how to do it, but also how to keep on doing it!

Mark Knight + Funkagenda vs Joy Division
Funkagenda shares a humantarian message when uploading an amazing rework of the almighty classic Joy Division’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart” produced together with, who he describes as Toolroom’s ‘end of level baddy’, Mark Knight. The track was played out as a world exclusive by Pete Tong on Radio One.
Funkagenda’s humanitarian message on his Soundcloud profile:-
This was done as respectfully as we could, sticking to the original themes and parts. It is an homage to Ian Curtis, a beautiful wordsmith and sadly tortured soul…
Ian’s depression led him to commit suicide. If anyone out there is reading this and contemplating this course of action, PLEASE talk to somebody. Resources can be found below……………Funkagenda

secretsundaze Easter Party
After what was without doubt one of our best ever seasons last year – the 10th year and a decade of secretsundaze parties – we are very happy to announce details of our first party of 2012.
Taking over long time favourite venue Village Underground on Easter Thursday 5th April secretsundaze have put together a great line up that very much reflects some of the best music out there.
Headlining the party we are super happy to invite back one of the most respected and consistent artists in the deep house / deep techno realms, Lawrence (Dial).
Quite apart from his excellent DJ skills, impeccable selection and smooth set programming Lawrence is also revered because of his all round long term contribution to underground dance music and uncompromising approach. He is involved in, not one but 3, excellent labels of the very highest calibre – Dial, Smallville and most recently Laid.
Lawrence Fireside chat on Red Bull Academy
Our second guest making a return is Chicago born Tevo Howard, who will bring his heavy case of analogue gear over for the night. Tevo has been making music for years and DJing since 1987 but it was only when his label “Beautiful Granville” arrived on the scene in 2008/2009 with a spate of dyed in the wool classics such as “Everyday House Music” that his gospel was spread.
His sound which pays heavy tribute to trax and the Chicago sound is all firing drum machines – 808’s, 909’s and 101’s but they also have a beautiful melancholy feel that without doubt tug on the heart strings. Check out his brand new EP “The Drapes in The Living Room” on Thug records for a fine example of his work. The cut below is taken from this EP.
Tevo Howard – Mystery
Our last guest comes in the shape of October (Skudge, TAANSTAFL). Hailing from Bristol October has come to prominence of late with his excellent DJ skills and records on the likes of Skudge, Tectonic and his new TAANSTAFL label co-run with John Osborn. His sound is very much a unique amalgamation of house, techno, dub and bass which is of course very much reflected in his hometowns roots. He guested for us at at The Secret Agency night at Fabric hugely impressing us with his selection and skills and we think his star is firmly on the ascendance with more records lined up for Skudge, TAANSTAFL and also for Will Saul’s soon to re-launched Simple records.
October and Appleblim – NY Fizzzz
Residents Giles Smith and James Priestley will as ever be on hand to guide you throughout the night. All in all this promises to be another unmissable party from secretsundaze who are as intent as ever in keepin it real right in 2012!

Get Physical with Audiofly
Audiofly aka Luca Saporito and Ant Middleton from Barcelona, Spain inform the listeners of Soundcloud that finally a new single is about to be released on 18th March on Get Physical. Excellent music or any form of art production is always worthy of quite a long wait and after months in the studio, Audiofly are finally extremely happy to announce a new EP including the amazing ‘I’ll Tell Ya‘ featuring the very talented Big Bully on vocals.
It is an addictive Deep House groove, that insists you get with it and has been one of the centerpieces of their recent sets and the latest podcast that was presented by them last month.
The EP title is an amazing collaboration track with the legend Robert Owens, which is a bass fuelled beauty whose soundscape and vocal will captivate and hypnotise you immediately. I have no doubt it will definitely fly off the shelves and confirms that music and ‘Love Is A Drug‘.
The guys promote themselves on Soundcloud as producers/time wasters who have finally found their spiritual home-base and rhythm. I’m all for pondering, reflecting and taking some good old fashioned, essential, quality fun time out with family and friends and if this valuable time enables the artist/s to re-invent and connect with their inner evolutionary essence and creativity, then whats the rush?
