Dean Sunshine Smith Is Sweet As ‘Oh Honey’

Joy Andrews - Wednesday 04.01.12, 18:56pm

Dean Sunshine Smith - Sunshine Reworks Series #3

Dean Sunshine Smith does it again with the first release of 2012 which is Number 3 in the globally successful Sunshine Reworks series. This time he re-ignites the classic mid tempo soul shuffler ‘Oh Honey‘ by 70’s British soul group Delegation. Pitching things up and reworking the vocals to create an infectious slice of Soulful sunshine Deep House sweetness! Be warned: The groove is infectious and will have you up on your feet immediately, wherever you are!

SUNSHINE REWORKS #3 - A.OH HONEY - DIGITAL WAV/320 on sale now - JUNO (LTD 12" ON SALE SOON) by Dean 'sunshine' Smith

Track two continues to nurture the Soul with an edge of Funk as Dean Sunshine Smith takes us on a ‘Love Odyssey’.

Reworking & Re-interpreting the classic T-Connection weekender anthem, ‘Love Odyssey‘ is a new version that intentionally pays homage to the original but also reconstructs the vocals to give the tune a new twist and creating a killer deep house floorfiller. As always this release has some BIG support from some of the scene’s key players, producing another sure fire slice of Sunshine Magic from the Soulshare Records stable. Dean Sunshine Smith and Soulshare Records have already created an exciting and welcome groove to 2012!

It’s Time To Listen If You ‘dontlikepiano’

Joy Andrews - Tuesday 03.01.12, 03:24am

2far2see - dontlikepiano

2011 is now history, Christmas is a memory and people are either booking holidays, buying bargains or cold remedies. To help us overcome the family festive frivolities and ‘life is too short not too‘ philosophy, it is my heartfelt pleasure to introduce ‘dontlikepiano’.

‘dontlikepiano’ aka Raffel Plana is from Barcelona and on hearing his music for the first time today on Soundcloud, I was completely enchanted and an immediate lover of his music.

2far2see by dontlikepiano
This stunning music will hopefully assist the superstitious paranoid to forget the crazy talk of Armageddon as we are all hoping or planning for something Olympic in 2012. Life is too short not to sit back, relax and listen to some beautifully composed sounds right here and now.  Who knows what the future holds for us all, however, I believe it is always healthy to remain grounded in the present, whilst fully appreciating the here and now. I believe that we need to always connect with our senses and take nothing for granted! The future my friends is ‘2far2see.

This producer certainly knows how to paint a beautiful soundscape, whilst comfortably captivating the listener, taking them on a mind expanding journey. This music is testimony that happiness is found in the journey, not the destination! Once you embark on the ambient journey of ‘dontlikepiano’s’ music, I am confident that you will want to play it again and again, year after year.

The Always Unprofessional Keeps You ‘Safe From Harm’

Joy Andrews - Wednesday 21.12.11, 16:01pm

The Always Unprofessional

Soundcloud is a place where many fascinating and creative minds gather momentum to create what they want, when they want, how ever they want, for whatever reason they want, in their own subjective way. It’s a creatively chaotic and spontaneous exhibition, where anything can happen any time day or night!

The Always Unprofessional aka Jof Walters is creatively spontaneous guided by his own internal world. This guy’s music is without doubt melancholic, but it has a tiny ‘flicker’ to reassure the listener that the candle of hope always shines a light during moments of darkness. Here he sings beautifully ‘Everyone’s Floating In Space’ featuring the wonderful vocal of Cyra Morgan.  His reply to my comment on the track describes Cyra as the Queen of Soundcloud, while he is the tramp at the castle gates!

His track ‘Safe From Harm‘ is a very special ballad and a story that reminds us that love is all around, especially at Christmas. It gave me goosebumps when I heard it.

Safe From Harm‘ has also been entered into MTV’s Brand New For 2012 competition.

I requested a brief bio from Jof Walters after a listen to his tracks this morning as I was intrigued to discover more about him. Here is his bio untouched by my fair hand…The Always Unprofessional is definitely a tell it like it is kinda guy!

I say I’m not a ‘proper musician’ because I’m not really. I’m one of the millions of people who make music at home on a laptop after the kids have gone to bed (and I have three kids so that’s quite late at night).

I started out back in the 90’s playing local gigs, but then I grew up and got a job. Quite a good job. I’ve built banks and I now own a large investment business that helps everyone from Wealthy Individuals to governments buy businesses. That keeps me a little bit busy. So music is a hobby.

I’ve tried to keep things simple. I have a Soundcloud account that hosts my music and I record on an old macbook with Garageband and a vintage Strat. That’s why I call my music ‘Lo-Fi’. Most songs take about two hours to conceive and record and I write about 3 a week. That means that at least a few are worth listening too, its just statistically likely that once in a while I’ll write something ok!

Lyrically and stylistically I’m a drunken, lovelorn tramp. That’s not far from the truth really. I have two personalities. In the day I have to be ‘on’, I have to be driven and I have to inspire the team around me. That means at night I’m usually ‘off’ – I am a high functioning depressive. Therefore music is a sort of therapy. It allows me to get rid of all the negativity through creativity.

Incidentally I’m 35, male and live in a little town called Lichfield, which has been my home for most of my life. I have always had a community of wonderful musicians around me which allows me to get on stage and pretty much play with a band instantly. Which is nice.

I have no real drive to go beyond what I do currently, but its always nice when people say nice things about my songs!

Buzzin Media wishes The Always Unprofessional much luck for his MTV Brand New 2012 entry.
