Nôze – You Have To Dance – single review
The French dance group Nôze are back with a new single: “You Have To Dance” from their current album “Songs on the Rocks”. The track is a lively dance with a strong offbeat that tinges the laid back electronica with a bit of 70s ska.
The vocals are sometimes skat and sometimes sung in such a strong accent that it has an almost Arabian feel. This is really the music of hedonism, as the lyrics describe “You have to drink all night / remember that you’re alive.”
“You Have To Dance” comes with two remixes by Mathias Kaden – the Beatpolka remix and the Mouthacapellapolka remix – and one further remix by Lee Jones.
The Lee Jones remix separates the track from the dominance of its vocals and turns it into a reworked, more traditional club tune. The Beatpolka mix is more blippy techno with even less focus on the vocals whilst the Mouthacapellapolka remix is, as you may guess, a short a cappella track that uses beatboxing, skat vocals, and whistling to form an experimental version of the track.
“You Have To Dance” is out on Authentik records as is their album. It will be released on the 28th of January.
