Following on from their massive Mistral release, once more Christian Smith & John Selway show they are the masters of creating tracks that seem to push dancefloors ever upwards into ecstatic mass hysteria with Daytona.
This time round they’ve found another variation of their genre-blurring sound, as hugely strong and big room as usual but with seriously funked-up tech groove that builds to a massive climatic breakdown.
Christian Smith & John Selway are able to create huge tunes that appeal to a wide range of DJs – from the techno purists to the trance kings – and every credible DJ in between. There’s not many artists who regularly have such a diverse bunch as Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer, Dubfire, John Digweed, Sasha, Sander Kleinenberg, Roger Sanchez, David Guetta, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, all playing their releases.
John Digweed and Nick Muir beef up the bottom end while keeping the funked-up attitude in creating a deeply twisted remix version of the track.
Daytona is featured on John Digweed’s Bedrock Eleven (3xCD LP), for which he has selected future highlights, unreleased exclusives, current favourites and remixed classics, from his influential label’s catalogue for this next annual instalment of the Bedrock mix compilation series.
