Co-founding member of Kraftwerk, Florian Schneider has left Kraftwerk. He formed Kraftwerk alonog with Ralf Hütter in Düsseldorf in 1970.

Kraftwerk received UK commercial success and critical acclaim with their fourth album Autobahn in 1974. The title track was over 22 minutes long which was edited to 3 minutes and became their first hit single in both the UK and United States.

Further critical acclaim and success came with the release of albums such as Trans-Europe Express (1977) The Man Machine (1978). And amongst the synth pop of the early 1980’s Kraftwerk had their only UK number 1 hit single with The Model.

Kraftwerk’s music continued to influence and help shape dance music from hip hop to Electro and Techno, but since 1986 and the release of their last studio album Electric Cafe, they have only released live and remix recordings.

Nevertheless, I was sad to hear of Florian Schneider’s departure from one of the most influential bands on the history of modern music, and me personally.

The debut album, A Land For Renegades by Zombie Zombie was conceived and recorded as an imaginary film soundtrack. Apparently, the album follows a loose plot.

Etienne Jaumet & Cosmic Neman are Zombie Zombie, and with guest musicians have recorded an album full of their beloved inspirations; a subtle blend of cult movie soundtracks ala John Carpenter and Dario Argento, kraut rock of Neu! and Suicide and some modern spaced-out jazz influences, infused with contemporary deep grooves and electronica sounds.

The album includes a Suicide-like version of Iggy Pop’s classic Nightclubbing.

This is an interested album that ticks all the above boxes and definitely works for me.

Make your own mind up – Listen to Zombie Zombie.
