Electric Minds presents this year’s set of loft parties taking place in its usual home in Shoreditch, East London. The series began with a sell out party on the 9th April and returns on 14th May with the mighty Workshop Records and special guests Kassem Mosse and Even Tuell.

Workshop Records is one today’s most respected underground labels with releases from Move D, Fred P, Lowtec, & Kassem Mosse to name but a few. With their records released in generic sleeves, often without titles and artwork this is a record label that lets the music do the talking.

Gunnar Wendel aka Kassem Mosse is one of the most respected new wave of house & techno producers. Omar S was so impressed with his “578” track that he decided to produce two remixes whilst travelling through Berlin and it was this release that Resident Advisor picked as one of its top tracks of 2010. Kassem Mosse’s remix of Commix’s “Need To Feel” was Juno Plus’s No 1 track of 2010 showing why his productions are as popular with the dubstep fraternity as they are in the house and techno world.

Kassem Mosse will play a special live set alongside label mate Even Tuell and is joined by Paul Crognale and label owner Dolan Bergin. As usual our Funktion One sound system is installed for all of the loft parties.

These parties always sell out in advance and demand for Kassem Mosse’s appearance is high so it is highly advisable to purchased in advance from Resident Advisor.

Future Loft Party guests include Prosumer, Move D, We Play House, GHL plus many more.

Guy J is a young, much-in-demand, innovative producer, DJ and live act, whose infectious production talents, busy worldwide touring schedule, electric live shows and groundbreaking debut album on Bedrock (released in 2008) have all led to this point and the creation of his stunning new masterpiece: 1000 Words.

Along with a handful of his fellow countrymen, this young Israeli (now based in Antwerp, Belgium) is now at the forefront of a movement towards the melody-rich and emotionally charged roots of the house music spectrum. 1000 Words, spread over 3 CDs on John Digweed’s forward thinking Bedrock label showcases the extraordinary talents of Guy J.

His productions have constantly earned praise and gained many fans for their tight, driving beats, shimmering, warm synths and blossoming, journey like arrangements. Across 3 CDs he is given the space to explore the exciting, timeless space between ambient, experimental electronica, house, techno and beyond. Throughout, he constantly maintains a melodic and highly emotive core, creating a body of work structured and presented in a highly creative way.

CD1 gives a nod to classical composition, taking the form of a series of movements, as Guy J mixes, segues and joins the dots between individual tracks to create an end result that is greater than the sum of all its parts. Opening with a swirl of muted bells and atmospheric pads, the lush opening 3-track sequence is concluded with the gorgeous, heavenly vocals of Miriam Vaga.

Just when you think you know what’s coming next, the soaring, melodic shower of “Fall Star”, Guy J lets the spirit of the Mad Professor into the studio and spins into a fizzing dub experiment (“The Right Place”), before getting horizontal and beatless with the melancholy beauty of “My Organ Friend”, to draw the second movement to a close.

“Spica” wouldn’t be out of place on the Bladerunner movie soundtrack, as it cuts to the pulsating disco swing of “Electric Tale” with a nod to Giorgio Moroder and morphs and breaks down into the spiralling, ecstatic chords of “Lamur”, before flowing into the distant storm of a perfect sunrise moment (“I Lost My Head”). The majestic beats reprise of “Stay Cow” and the stunning finale of “Fly” (once gain featuring Miriam Vaga), bring to a close what can only be described as a listening experience that has been heaven sent.

Imagine being able to create your perfect DJ set; having the skill as an artist to create all the music you want to play; all the subtle emotional nuances, mood swings and changes of direction at your fingertips. CD2 is packed with expansive dancefloor creations. In classic Guy J fashion this is a musically dense and diverse trip that is as dynamic as it is organic, gradually progressing, turning up the pressure, keeping you hanging on until the very last drop has poured out of the speakers!

From the deep, swinging, handclapping grooves of the opening sequence of “Doves”, “Limbo” and “Easy Can Be”, with their subtle, uplifting, intelligent beauty, this is a true journey by DJ, a master artist at work. As the mood moves towards the deep, throbbing intensity with lights down low (“My Thought Of You”, “Sahara” and “Teva”), it’s easy to become lost in the swirling electronic music as Guy J pushes emotion buttons, exploring the psyche of the dance, exploring possibilities, forging ahead into the future.

The full-length club mixes gathered on the unmixed CD3 rounds of this superb package in style, dedicated to bringing any self-respecting DJ’s record collection up to speed with a selection of some of Guy J’s finest moments from 1000 Words.

From the majestic opening notes of “Doves”, he first explores deep house vibes with an opening trio of low-slung grooves sprinkled with melodic flourishes, Detroit techno influences and dub drops. “My Thought Of You” turns up the energy levels and gets a little twisted, alongside “Teva” exhibiting no nonsense big room floor pressure.

“Sahara” lightens the mood with ethereal beauty, while the stunning, gorgeous voice of Miriam Vaga will prove to be a highlight in any set anywhere. The heavenly atmospherics of Detroit techno bring CD3 to a close with the moody magnificence of “Azimuth”, which is preceded by the pure melodic beauty of “I Lost My Head” and energetic techno styling of “Heliscope”, showing that Guy J is one of the stand-out electronic artists in the world today.

His debut LP Heartbeats is one of the year’s hottest albums, coming across like Mylo jamming with Daft Punk and Phil Collins, and his stunning remixes for the likes of Lady Gaga, Groove Armada and Everything, Everything have blown up clubs, blogs, charts and festivals across the world. Our man will be DJing on the night, showcasing
his ridiculously uplifting sounds and knack for a damn good riff.

There will also be a very special live set from Beardyman, the worlds greatest beatbox and vocal acrobat, who will be performing unaided by gadgetry, just him and his mic.

eastern electrics Back To The Tunnels NYE 2010
Friday 31st December
9pm-7am
Secret London Location

Looking for a good New Years’ Eve Party in London?

One of the hottest names in experimental electronic music, US DJ & artist Matthew Dear, has joined the line-up for eastern electrics – Back To The Tunnels.

eastern electrics Back To The Tunnels party will bring together a line up you’ll remember well into 2011, the brains behind eastern electrics
are keeping tight-lipped about the venue for this extravaganza, but promise you’ll be seeing in the new year at one of London’s best-kept secret spaces.

eastern electrics – Back To The Tunnels presents a genius line up this NYE, with three rooms of experimental and precocious electronic music across 10 hours of utter mayhem.

Look to the eclectic line up offered up by legendary party promoters mulletover and Damian Lazarus’s genre-busting Crosstown Rebels label if you like your house techy and your techno deep. Keeping it filthy in the Rebel Rave room are Damian Lazarus with a minimal edge, in-demand new-Detroit producer Seth Troxler and original Rebel Jamie Jones,
alongside resident mulletover DJ Geddes. mulletover and Crosstown Rebels throw all their favourite party tricks into one seriously heavy line up that demonstrates why these are two of the biggest names in electronic music today.

Returning for more of the eastern electrics magic, Bloc give us a taste of what we can look forward to for next year’s festival with an eclectic room that will help eastern electrics blast into the New Year. Announcing experimental electronic DJ Matthew Dear as their headliner,
Bloc demonstrate their avant-garde approach to putting on a party. The super-hot producer comes to eastern electrics enjoying the success of his critically acclaimed third album, August’s ‘Black City’ – a brazen collaboration between producer Matthew Dear and three
other musicians, where Dear’s melancholic vocal drifts hauntingly over a funky yet wonky tech-meets-synth pop track. Dear is one of the most exciting names in electronic music.

Having produced minimal techno under his birth name, as well as adopting the moniker Audion for other experimental releases, being a part of a band seems a natural progression for Dear, as he takes yet another direction in his already established career. Taking risks and
breaking boundaries as he endeavours to make music that simply cannot be pigeonholed, Matthew Dear is one artist you won’t want to miss this NYE.

Further addition sees UK funky rising star Roska & drum’n’bass revisionists Instru:Mental join dubsteppers Joker & MC Nomad backing up with the best in bass on a line up just leftof-centre enough to keep any raver on their toes – Bloc prove they deserve their position as
pioneers in dance music promotion.

Renowned party upstarts Man Make Music and genre-benders Sound Pellegrino present a lineup that is sure to keep you smiling all night. This NYE in room 3 catch “midget house” master Solo, Orgasmic and Teki Latex’s Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team, MMM stalwarts
Sketchy and Another Amit pulling everything into shape. This room will you’re your mind with its mashup mix of tribal rhythms, warped basslines, sleek grooves and wonky beats.

eastern electrics has won critical acclaim for its unrivalled line ups and unmissable events. And, almost as soon as they finished cleaning up after last year’s NYE bash – with Steve Bug, Justin Martin, Kode 9 and Plastician – eastern electrics began the hunt for London’s
biggest underground gathering to make ee NYE 2010 even heavier.

Bringing together some of the finest emerging talent in electronic music, ee demonstrate just why they are the forward-thinking party-goer’s favourite – and show London’s club scene exactly what a NYE bash is supposed to be like.

After three months of scouring the globe for the world’s greatest nightlife, the Smirnoff Co.® reveals today that it is the best of Miami’s nightlife culture will be arriving in London on 27th November for the epic finale of the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project. The event at the Troxy is part of the groundbreaking one-of-a-kind project in which 14 countries have paired up to swap nightlife.

Ensuring it is an unforgettable night, fans can expect a live performance from the infamous all American hip-hop band featuring Pharrell Williams, N*E*R*D. Joining them will be BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe, having presided over the best of British nightlife and been the driving force behind the project in Great Britain, Zane will be taking to the decks for an exclusive Miami inspired DJ set alongside cut and paste supremo Jaguar Skills.

Fans will also be able to sample an authentic taste of Miami as they enjoy delicious Smirnoff Miami Mule cocktails by the virtual interactive pool and kick back and relax at the luxury lounge bar. If Nikki beach is more your style, head to the main room to experience the sand between your toes complete with palm trees overhead before embracing Little Havana notorious for Latino dancers and carnival entertainment.

To be there and celebrate the outcome of the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project as two very different cultures collide to create something extraordinary, partygoers should visit Facebook.com/SmirnoffGB to win tickets.

In turn, Miami will receive the best of Britain’s homegrown nightlife, as voted for by the public and curator Zane Lowe. A community of more than 279,000 people across the country were involved and more than 6,520 people suggested what best characterises nightlife in Great Britain – from fashion trends and musical styles to locally inspired cocktails – via Facebook. Once all of the suggestions were in, Zane Lowe selected the ones that best represented the nation’s vibrant and varied nightlife. These ingredients will now be packed into a crate for Miami to experience when the world swaps nights in the epic finale on 27th November.

It can now be revealed that Miami can look forward to experiencing a myraid of quintessentially British nightlife experiences, with an unexpected twist. Incorporating the nation’s unique festival vibe and a series of typical traditions including fish and chips, kebabs and black cabs the night will give partygoers a bona fide insight into British nightlife culture.

Zane Lowe comments:

“I’m incredibly excited to see the best of British nightlife come to life for the people of Miami to enjoy. After weeks of voting and some extraordinary suggestions on what makes our nightlife truly unique, the event on November 27th promises to be a one-of-a-kind experience. Miami, I hope you are ready!”

To further involve the global community around the Nightlife Exchange Project, the Smirnoff Co. has created a new collaborative music platform Beat of the World, launching soon – it will allow people from around the world to get involved and help create an exclusive track that will be played at the finale events.

The track will represent the diverse cultures of the 14 countries taking part in the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project and exchanging the best of their nightlife on 27th November 2010. The pairings for the 12 other countries taking part have been revealed as follows:

Australia – SYDNEY & Brazil – SÃO PAULO
Argentina – BUENOS AIRES & Ireland – DUBLIN
Canada – TORONTO & India – BANGALORE
Germany – BERLIN & South Africa – CAPE TOWN
Lebanon – BEIRUT & Thailand – BANGKOK
Poland – WARSAW & Venezuela – CARACAS
