Danso aka Edwin Danso, is a Rapper & Producer signed to Myish Music. He has featured on eight Universal Records compilation Cd’s and has two Mixtapes to his name so far. Next year is set to be a big year for the South London Rapper/Producer with the release of his debut album S.O.W (Son Of William).

I recently heard his music on Soundcloud and his track ‘Danso’s Imagination‘ gained my attention, as it stretched my musical comfort zone; there was something about the vocals that hooked me in. I’m not a huge Dubstep fan however, the introduction is dramatic and the vocals were captivating enough to maintain my interest.

      Danso's Imagination by DansoMusic

Danso recently uploaded ‘Rhythm of the Night‘ which Danso informs us is a track from his forthcoming album S.O.W – Son of William in 2012.

Rhythm Of The Night by DansoMusic

I requested a brief interview from Danso, to discover his influences and what his plans are for 2012.

How long have you been producing/rapping?

I’ve been producing since I was 16 and writing/rapping since I was 11. I’ve always been into music… I started off with House and Garage then moved on to Rap and Hip Hop.

Who are your major influences?

I have been influenced by a host of different artists and a number of different genres. My main inspiration though has come from artists such as Jay Z and Nas. I’ve also found the mechanical aspects of Daft Punk and Dizzee Rascal/Kanye West to be highly influential in my delivery and in the way I seek to organise my music artistically. I could go on and on as music is my passion, I listen and find beauty and major influences in so many artists! Those mentioned are but to name a few!

What ignites the spark in your soul?

Great composition! I remember sitting in my room listening to classical music as a teenager, listening to how it was put together and losing myself in the ambiance.

What are your goals for 2012?

To release my album Son of William and singles and also launch my sister Miss Angel as the newest R&B sensation!

Miss Angel - To The Beat (Freestyle) by DansoMusic

I also want to be as successful as I can possibly be! Therefore I cannot fail… to always keep God as my best friend and party like I’m too old to remember, and too young to care!

What has been the highlight of your musical career so far?

The 2 main highlights of my career so far would be shooting a music video in Spain. We went twice this summer, also went back to do some shows in Marbella.

The second would be featuring on 8 Universal Records compilation Cds.. for me that’s a great accomplishment .

Buzzin Media looks forward to the release of Danso’s S.O.W (Son of William) album. Watch this space!

MOBSCENE

On December 10th, two leading forces from the dubstep scene unite, for TRIBE presents Never Say Die & Circus – a night of big bass, deep dub and forward-thinking underground music. And with a huge lineup, this is one night you can’t afford to miss…

Coming to The Electric, Brixton, dubstep powerhouses Circus Records and Never Say Die Records bring together two of the freshest and most exciting rosters in dubstep. Innovators in the scene, and home to inspirational, forward-thinking and LOUD bass music, Circus Records and Never Say Die Records have released some of the biggest underground anthems of the past couple of years. And together they present a lineup that’s going to smash it up!

From the Never Say Die camp come critically acclaimed rap, grime and dubstep act Foreign Beggars, who bring their frenetic live show to the night. Fresh from collaborations with the likes of Mensah and Skrillex, as well as Noisia, and more, Foreign Beggars (Metropolis, Orifice Vulgatron, DJ Nonames) are as unpredictable as they are prolific. They’re known for producing energetic live shows, and rumbling beats that drive dancefloors into a frenzy, so this time Foreign Beggars are pulling out all the stops.

And it’s a ‘battle of the bosses’, as, Circus Records’ Flux Pavillion and Never Say Die’s SKisM play an exclusive back2back set. Following the release of their collaborative single with Foreign Beggars ‘Jump Back’, (released on November 28th) the two label bosses are lining up something very special.

The two camps are bringing in the reinforcements, with plenty of huge support coming from both rosters. We have Circus Records dons Slum Dogz (Swan-E, Doctor P and Krafty MC) and Funtcase, playing back2back. And from Never Say Die we have troopers Dodge & Fuski, who are releasing ‘Python/What Do You Know’ on December 12th, and Zomboy whose remix of Nadia Ali, Starkillers & Alex Kenji – ‘Pressure’ is coming on November 21st. Between them these two have put out some of the biggest jump up records of this year!

Plus Urban Nerds boys Rattus Rattus and Klose One and electro heads Mobscene (‘High/Graceful Destruction’ released November 28th) are coming along for the ride.

Visuals come from Fade In Fade Out, an Audio Visual collective from London. Their approach is an intensive mash-up of stark graphic icons, shapes and deconstructed imagery, and it’s seen them work on shows with Skream, Benga, Rusko, Basment Jaxx, Funkagenda, Annie Mac, Jack Beats, and Stanton Warriors.

With Tribe presents Never Say Die & Circus, Circus and Never Say Die are taking bass next level. Bringing together a massive lineup and sleek production – this event will blow your mind.

You’ve seen the picture, now you just wait until you hear the sounds! I definitely feel the need to express my passion for some amazing tunes again! I wrote an article about Blynk only yesterday and found myself needing to give another almighty shout out from the roof tops, with the aid of a megaphone, about another one of Blynk’s outstanding Bass fuelled remixes, a wonderful interpretation of Qualmsound’s ‘Breath’ on Qualmsounds Genesis EP, out now on Soulstep Records. I heard it a month ago and was absolutely blown away by it’s beauty! Blynk’s music has a habit of having that effect on me, however, I am delighted that it does!

This man is an amazing and gifted producer of exquisite sounds. His delicious injection of bass, immediately penetrates the soul and leaves you feeling refreshed and thankful for all that you have in the here and now. He is a natural born magician, without doubt put on this earth to ease the heart, mind and soul. I tell you something, I am one of the most luckiest ladies alive to be surrounded by so many wonderful Artist/Musician/Producers music on a daily basis on Soundcloud. It is one of the most addictive websites for music lovers.

“Without music, life would be an error” Friedrich Nietzsche

I encourage your heart and mind to embrace this music with all that you have and I guarantee you will be very grateful you did! I can also guarantee, that if you are a ‘Blynk’ or Qualmsound music appreciator or of any lush ambient soulstep music, you will feel the urge to listen more than once! This is most definitely food for the soul, with a deep and delicate, rich and meaningful soundscape, that will help you ‘Breath’ a sigh of stress relief.

With the final Blynk ‘Breath’ remix this is an EP to have in your collection.

Considered a true pioneer of the scene, DJ Hatcha’s roots in dubstep go back to the late 90’s. His influence over the course of the genre is undisputed, even playing a part in naming it. It was no surprise last year when Mixmag nominated him for the Greatest DJ Of All Time alongside the likes of Fatboy Slim, Jeff Mills and Carl Cox. Continuing to dominate the genre whether it’s through his DJ gigs at the infamous FWD>> nights or festivals across the globe, you’ll also find Hatcha championing the sound through his weekly Kiss FM show, whilst keeping you entertained via Hatcha TV; a platform to the in-depth world of dubstep and the lifestyle, culture that it has created.

Spread over 3CDs, 100% Pure Dubstep Volume 2 provides another epic experience from the hottest genre in dance music. Rammed full of heavy hitters past, present and future, expect the likes of Skream ft. Sam Frank ‘Where You Should Be’, Flux Pavillon ‘Bass Cannon’, The Others ‘First Flight’, Joker ‘Digidesign’, Caspa ‘Sir Rock A Lot’, Bare Noize ‘Twilight Zone’, Plastician ‘Hard Graft’ alongside remixes including Ray Foxx ‘The Trumpeter’ (Subscape Remix), Swedish House Mafia ‘One’ (Caspa Dub), Drumsound & Bassline Smith ‘Close’ (Mensah Remix), True Tiger ft. Professor Green & Maverick Sabre ‘In The Air’ (True Tiger Mosh Pit Remix), Fuzzy Logik ft. Jada Pearl ‘All My Love’ (Xilent Remix) and possibly the ultimate dubstep classic anthem, La Roux – ‘In For The Kill’ (Skream’s Let’s Get Ravey Remix). Add to this 11 exclusive cuts including Dismantle ‘Clone’, Dream ‘Last Time’, Kutz ‘The Volt’, Cato ‘Who’s Cato’ and Manta ‘A Snake Charmer’ – a 2003 early garage / dubstep classic from Artwork previously only available on limited vinyl.

Ahead of the forthcoming Electro versus Dubstep night at London’s KOKO club we take a look at the clash of the genres in the run up to Steve Aoki’s exclusive London show on 10th September.

In recent years electro has noticeably evolved from acts like Daft Punk, through to much more bass-driven dubstep acts like Bar 9, Flux Pavilion and Skrillex. Years go by, and people continually strive for something different, something new, which has resulted in electro developing a much darker tone.

Whether the dirtier sounds are a by product keeping in line with the pace of life or it be something that deserves to be noticed rather than kept underground, the power of electronic music today is undeniable with the strength to be uplifting, haunting and mesmerising all at the same time.

This development in electro goes hand in hand with the filthier sounds that dubstep artists are producing today. Skrillex has skillfully taken elements from all these different electronic movements to create something which he calls electro-house-dubstep, a genre that is currently exploding, and is destined for even greater things.

Ever since Skrillex’s laptops were stolen, there has been a handful of leaks and releases of unfinished tracks. The fascination and buzz behind these unfinished tracks proves the potential of what the reaction would have been like, had his dubstep / house infusion been fully produced.

It’s fair to say that as the world of dubstep continues to expand, more and more artists are crossing over into the genre. Holding onto their electro roots, but making that transition into a new realm, creating a synthesis of the two genre’s. Skrillex is a perfect example of that but so is Steve Aoki.

Despite having an altogether different sound to Skrillex, Steve Aoki manages to keep his foot firmly in the electro door, whilst pushing his sound more and more towards the dirtier and darker sounds that we would now associate with dubstep. Steve Aoki develops his own dark electro productions, and has remixed some of today’s biggest artists.

Who’s to say where these genre’s are headed, the more artists that collaborate across genres, the more likely it is that this new electro-house-dubstep will expand to a point of domination in today’s electronic music industry. That’s certainly an exciting prospect.

With this in mind, party pioneers The Playground decided that it only made sense to embrace some of the industries dirtiest dubstep acts, with some of the hottest producers working on the darker side of electro for a single line-up at Camden’s infamous KOKO on Saturday the 10th September.

Steve Aoki will headline this exclusive one off show in his only London appearance of the year. He’ll have support from an eclectic mix of some of today’s hottest electro and dubstep producers, including Modestep, Does It Offend You, Yeah?, Mixhell, Bar 9, Roksonix, Genetix and Autoerotique.

KOKO
1a Camden High Street
London
NW1 7JE.

Doors open at 9pm and tickets are on sale now via www.theplayground.co.uk.

Buzzin Media are delighted to support another all time massive Dubstep track release from the ever popular and rapidly rising dubstep artist Cottonmouth aka Olly Edgecombe. This captivating track Charlie Sloth (BBC 1Xtra) Prison Remix is due for release on Tuesday 30th November from Permanent Damage Records.

With the holiday season fast approaching, Cottonmouth turns his thoughts to happy memories shared with family, friends and fellow dubstep criminals. In this spirit, some of England’s most beloved hoodlums have banded together for a criminally insane dubstep remix of Charlie Sloth’s “Prison.”

Charlie Sloth has handed over the remix duties to Cottonmouth, a fast-rising star on the dubstep scene whose tracks have received radio play from Bobby Friction and Kissy Sellout and have been charted by the Detroit Grand Pubahs and on Beatport. Cottonmouth is embarking upon a world tour in 2011, when he will take his DJ talents to Asia, Australia and North America, very exciting times indeed lay ahead for Cottonmouth in 2011.

The remix is rounded out with vocals from Notty Culture, the ska-funk duo of Jeffrey Darnell and Dominic Owen, whose previous collaborators include The Notorious BIG and Nas.

I had the priviledge of an exclusive interview with Cottonmouth earlier this year, having been initially introduced to his excellent music on Soundcloud. I found Cottonmouth to have a brilliant sense of humour, but what I found most apparent, was his extreme passion about his musical production and how he was exceptionally keen to evolve as an artist, experimenting with different genres. Cottonmouth is without doubt very excited about the prospects of experimenting with original sounds and techniques and then sharing the finished products across the globe.

Cottonmouth

Cottonmouth has been producing music since he was 14 years old when he got the drum n bass bug, which consumed him. Since his early days, his taste in music has expanded into Dubstep/Electronica/Electro/IDM and much more. Starting out as a dnb producer at the age of just fourteen, he retired from the music biz a few years later, or so he thought. He has returned with a whole host of new tunes and ideas that are guaranteed to leave your ears wondering what hit them.

I was pleasantly surprised, in fact delighted, when I heard Charlie Sloth (BBC 1Xtra) Prison Remix containing excellent vocals and witty lyrics. It was a real pleasure to the ear, as most of the Dubstep tracks I listen to on Soundcloud are mainly instrumental, therefore, this track grabbed my attention immediately the vocals kicked in. It has an uptempo beat to it in sections, unlike most other Dubstep tracks I have listened to. Throughout the journey of the track, I began to feel excited that Cottonmouth was bold enough to experiment with his sounds when remixing and maybe transporting Dubstep into the new year with some original ideas to assist him on his intrepid tour in 2011.

We at Buzzin Media have been maintaining a close vigil of the continuing success of Cottonmouth via our Soundcloud profile and will definitely maintain that vigil throughout the coming new year.

“Prison” is the second single on the forthcoming album from UK hip-hop’s notoriously independent Charlie Sloth (host of BBC 1Xtra’s Hip Hop M1X with Charlie Sloth, and Being Charlie Sloth,) whose previous albums have had over 1.5million downloads.

Chibuku Shake Shake - Adam Beyer, Carl Craig & more
Saturday 16th October @ the Masque, Liverpool

Balancing myriad genres to such great effect creates three rooms of aural abandon for those seeking techno, deep house, dubstep, disco… and a good old fashioned rave.

Saturday 16th October has all of this and more, including man of the moment Tensnake whose Coma Cat is riding high in the charts and is catapulting him into the higher echelons of disco’s fraternity.

Chibuku Shake Shake will be reverberating to the sound of Adam Beyer, the Swedish techno titan making his debut in the Masque. His sound is a mixture of bone shaking grooves and gilt edged rhythms, an intense and complicated ensemble of fierce techno music. It’s evident in his genre defining record label Drumcode, his peerless and highly sought after remixes and productions and heady DJ sets across the globe.

If Adam Beyer represents the avant-garde of European techno, then joining him will be one man who epitomises the pinnacle of the city where it all began, Detroit’s Carl Craig. Having been part of the second wave of artists to hail from the Motor City, Craig has been one of the true musical mavericks of the last twenty years.

Carl Craig has turned his hand effortlessly to a number of genres, be it the ambient drum n bass of Bugz in the Bassbin, disco flavoured house music with Paper People or his crushing techno edits under his own name or C2 moniker.

They are supported by local DJ and producer Lewis Boardman, now part of the NRK roster.

Upstairs Skream is taking centre stage for what will be two very special sets – disco in Ink and ear-warping dubstep in The Loft.

The Croydon native is the undisputed scene leader for dubstep, taking the music to the masses with his La Roux remix last year and latest album ‘Out of the Box’ garnering instant praise much like his self titled predecessor.

The summer has been spent smashing festivals on the solo tip and as part of dubstep super group Magnetic Man, whose glorious productions have merited a major label release for the group’s imminent album.

Further guests are to be announced shortly and local hero Rich Furness gets the vibe started.

And finally, Ink. Here it’s the turn of Hamburg disco fiend Tensnake, the undisputed man of the moment. Whilst the nu disco sound got purists salivating, he has managed to marry the underground purity with a credible hookier edge, taking the music to the record boxes of key radio tastemakers such as Annie Mac and Pete Tong.

Nowhere as this been more prevalent than on ‘Coma Cat’, a gorgeous slice of astute deepness out on Defected Records with an infectious chiming melody its core principle. Joining him will be a very special second serving of the night from Skream, showcasing the broad range of musical influences upon him with a rare-as disco set. Support comes in the shape of Liverpool’s disco enthusiast Paul Outlar.
