2011 was another landmark year for our masked hero. His highly successful mix compilation for Toolroom Records was received critical acclaim, and marked the start of his quest to conquer every mix series in existence and become the unrivalled “King of the Comps”. With some exciting compilations in the pipeline for 2012 Jaguar Skills looks set to achieve this accolade very soon!

He also continued his collaboration with retail giant Urban Outfitters having launched an exclusive Ninja Tee and CD combo last year and performed in stores across the UK to celebrate.

Placidic Dream ft Rowetta - 'Money' EP - Axis Trax

‘Money‘ and House Music, make the world go around for Placidic Dream ft Rowetta due for release on Axis Trax within the next month. Placidic Dream is the creation of the talented musician/producer Malc East, who’s favourite quote is ‘There’s nothing you can do that can’t be done” – taken from the well known lyrics of The Beatles - ‘All We Need Is Love’. His discography is a fine example that he practises this positive mantra momentarily.

Danny Dance - Here For The Dancefloor EP

Danny Dance shares a message to the world; which is to dance and spread the Love for humanity and House Music through his incredibly uplifting and ‘dance wherever you are’ EP ‘Here For The Dancefloor’ out now on Beatport. I read a comment on one of his tracks on Soundcloud informing him they took full advantage of his ‘dance vibe’ and had a random boogie in Starbucks.

Danny Dance is a native of Miami and informs us to ‘Smile. House Music is in the world’! He confirms that ‘dance is a feeling’ and wishes to send another message to the popular House Music culture, which is to ’sell the feeling, not the sex’! House Music is traditionally music for the young at heart; so there is a requirement for both. Music and dancing have been used as a mating ritual since the dawn of man and evolution dictates that the show must go on! So my message is to feel the feelings of the music and allow them to take you where they will! However, my sincerest pearl of wisdom to the young at heart, is to Laugh, Love and Dance like there is no tomorrow. The diversity of Danny Dance’s music is from many influences from his past and present. VIVa 085 'Gimme Some More' - Remixes EP

I am often overwhelmed when I hear some tunes and Steve Lawlers ‘Gimme Some More’ feat Roland Clarke remixed by Blynk is one of those tunes. Steve Lawler’s label VIVa MUSiC held a remix competition and Blynk’s remix was the overall winner, selected from over 3000 contestants and when you hear it, you will understand why.

The rhythm and electronic sounds have an absolutely sensational vibe and match the sensual vocals of Roland Clarke perfectly. It’s a spine chilling goose-bumper and captivates the mind, body and soul throughout. The lyrics articulate wonderfully the sensations felt by the listener.  It’s incredibly seductive and requires a ‘heat wave’ warning on the label. You may need to have the air conditioning on full blast and take a cold shower following many listens.

It’s very addictive listening for anyone with a love of sensual sounds. The only description I could manage to comment, when I first heard Blynk’s remix on Soundcloud, was Wow and this is special, as I was in complete awe and totally mesmerised.

Stelios Vassiloudis - It Is What It Is

We have many reasons to show respect and express gratitude toward the Greeks, including the birth of Democracy, the Hippocratic Oath and for many great philosophers, including Socrates and his loyal student Plato. Bedrock Records are without doubt full of admiration and gratitude for the rising Greek star Stelios Vassiloudis. He is also a third of the brilliant ‘Wiretappeur’ who had a recent Bedrock hit with the adorable and deliciously addictive ‘Everybody Loves Ice Cream’.

Following the debut artist album by Marco Bailey, Guy J’s second artist album and releases from label owner John Digweed himself (in the form of “Structures” and “Bedrock 12″ mix compilations), Bedrock now proudly presents the debut artist album from Stelios Vassiloudis, brilliantly simple and philosophically titled “It Is What It Is” out on release 7/11/11.

This is what Stelios Vassiloudis has to say about creating his debut album.

I have always tried to avoid making an album and it’s safe to say I had (and still have) various preconceptions and notions about the process of making an album and also about the qualities that determine whether it is successful and well-rounded. The electronic music genre is wrought with sub-par, hastily produced collections of singles strung together in LP format just as much as forward thinking artistic endeavours, so the prospect of making my own “statement” was (and is) always a daunting prospect”

Presented over two discs, CD1, is a beautiful journey overflowing with radiant, charismatic and exquisitely ambient tracks, that will no doubt provide you with a warm atmosphere during the Winter months ahead. It may even have you rushing to the airport for a lastminute.com holiday on a Greek island to grab some rays, chill-ax whilst listening to the lush soundscapes, elegantly sipping a Pina Collada and admiring the many breathtaking landscapes that every Greek island offers. CD2 allows Stelios to showcase his sophisticated club sound, which develops from laid back deep house grooves,  with some elegantly seductive vocal tracks, including the vocals from Anna Maria X, a name synonymous in Greece, whether as a DJ or a producer/singer, Anna has been one of the main names in the electronic scenes being involved in clubs, radio and a whole host of releases with her partner Gpal. Her vocals on “Tie Me Up” on CD1 and “Isolation” on CD2 will linger in your mind for a long time to come.

Other vocalists across the album include Darren Murray (“I Burn Like“) Astrid Suryanto (“Walk Away” and “Feed”) and Tomomi Ukomori (“Green In Blue“). In addition to the many original pieces of work on this album, Stelios has also collaborated with Berlin based Sasse, with one of my favourite tracks on CD 2 “The Z”.

CD2 also takes you to a more techie acidic vibe, to provide the loyal 303 lovers some rave action. Stelios Vassiloudis’ production is an incredible fusion of deep and extremely confident melodic sounds, with graceful beats and rhythm, including some pulsating and intense bass lines, guaranteed to invoke some sensual and erotic hip movements on the dance floor.

Tony Divino 'Air Raid' Axis Trax

Many bombs are dropped in the big room air space and Tony Divino’s ‘Air Raid’ released on Axis Trax is definitely going to get the revellers putting their arms in the air and and taking pleasure from the enormity of the big bass bombs. They will take no notice of the ‘Air Raid’ warnings or want to run for shelter, but will remain fixed firmly on the floor to marvel in it’s glory and to dance to the victorious sounds, including those of the Lancaster Bomber.The techy old school-tinged house track includes a bonus track entitled ‘Gamma’ and remixes from Serotonin Thieves, Christian Woodyatt along with Axis Trax label owner/Producer Rachel Ellektra.

Since Tony Divino’s first string of releases in August 09, he has been working very hard to carve a reputation for himself in the House music scene.  The 26 year old DJ/Producer has an impressive discography of 62 tracks/remixes to date, with many more in the pipeline on various record labels, including Axis Trax, Influential House, TD Recordings, Stripped Recordings, Phunk Solution & SP Trax, plus remixes for labels, Open Bar (NYC), Influential House, WL77, Stylus Recordings, Endemic Digital and many more.

Tony Divino was also Label Manager/ A&R/ Mastering Engineer for SP Trax (Smartie Partie’s In-House Record Label), Phunk Solution & Stereo Whore Music and Ministry of Sound World Tours Resident DJ Scott Langley. After gaining valuable insight into the dance music industry, Tony decided to stop running the labels to launch his own imprint ‘TD Recordings’ in October ‘10 as an outlet for his unsigned work, but soon welcomed other producers remixers to the fold.

Rachel Ellektra’s remix of ‘Air Raid’ has been described as “A Soundtrack without a film”. From the intro the real samples of the soaring Lancaster Bombers and intense beats and rhythm, gets the heart pumping and adrenaline rushing throughout the track. It is an incredibly powerful interpretation, with some wonderfully emotive synths, articulating immense power and beauty, also displaying a huge amount of respect for the genius mechanics behind the Lancaster Bomber.

Rachel Ellektra has a dream that one day she will take flight in a Lancaster Bomber and I have no doubt knowing the determination of this very gifted Producer, which is exhibited in the genius mechanics behind her music, that she will  one day make her dream a reality.

Tony Divino has started collaborating with other DJ/Producers/Singers/Songwriters in the scene, most notably with Ministry of Sound & Global Underground World Tours Resident DJ Scott Langley. Almost immediately they were then asked to remix Warner Powers & Michael Paterson’s ‘Sibado Gigante’ for Influential House. They’ve also signed a couple of original productions to the imprint, the first being ‘Amo’ and their track ‘Set Me Free’ featuring singer/songwriter ‘Jaxx’. They are also collaborating on a track with Joyce Sims, plus many more are in the finishing stages with other artists. They are currently being scouted to labels and this partnership is sure to raise some major industry attention in the forthcoming months.

Tony Divino is currently working hard as ever in the studio with collaborations in motion with UK singer/songwriter ‘Ellenyi’ an insane release schedule on his label TD Recordings, as well as various other imprints, plus some seriously hot solo productions in the works. He’s also been snapped up by Nocturnal Management, who will now be handling all his DJ bookings, remixes and tracks to take him to even greater heights.

When I heard Guy J and Henry Saiz ‘Meridian’, I was blown away. I write about tunes because I love them and wish to share this love with the world.  My curious mind insisted I listen intently to the track, as it was obviously chosen by John Digweed as Bedrock100 for a reason. What I heard in the track was how Bedrock has gained much wisdom from the past, learning from and respecting great composers, producers and musicians of the past, which can be heard in the strings. The excitement for the future for Bedrock Records is articulated beautifully in the exquisite and stunning electronic sounds. ‘Meridian’ is without doubt one of the most beautiful dance tracks I have heard this year. It definitely ignited my soul enough to make me want to dance.

Following the excellent singles from Maxime Dangles, Alan Fitzpatrick and Wiretappeur, Bedrock keep up the pressure with a superb collaboration between Stellios Vassiloudis and Sasse.

‘The Z’ is the first single to be taken from Stelios Vassiloudis’ (aka Stel) forthcoming debut album for Bedrock and is yet another release from the label not to be missed.

You may of already heard Stelios on Bedrock recently in his Wiretappeur guise (his collaboration with Florian Kruse and Nils Numberg) with the much loved ‘Everybody Loves Ice Cream EP‘. Wiretappeur releases regularly hit the Top 5 of the Beatport charts and their deep house vibes and warm sounds have been firm favourites of many acclaimed DJ’s.

The original version of ‘The Z’ has one of the most beautiful intros I have heard in a while. The synths are amazing, as is the percussion. It has a hypnotic beat with a pure atmosphere and the sounds are wonderfully mesmerising. Occasionally the synth sounds are like the door of your mind being locked tight, in order to for you to listen intently, get with the vibe and appreciate the beauty of the track!

‘The Z’ original is without doubt sassy, sophisticated, extremely charming and guaranteed to get your hips wiggling!

Germany’s Steve Bug cranks up the pressure on his remix of ‘The Z’ to create a mysterious and haunting deep groove, taking the big room revellers on an intrepid dance trip. Steve Bug emphasises the brilliance and power of the percussion, also creating a mesmerising hiss, along with some applaudable hand claps, as if he is congratulating Stelios Vassiloudis and Sasse on its excellence.

Finally, Spain’s Simon Garcia interprets the groove into a techno inspired remix, full of hypnotic synths, which at times sound like alarms, warning the listeners of the power of the track, which insists you get with the groove!

Working so closely with Bedrock has resulted in Stelios Vassiloudis signing an album deal with the label scheduled for release in late October/ early November. Along with his solo productions, the album also includes collaborations with some key artists and guest vocalists. Watch this space!

Stelios Vassiloudis is a musician, producer and DJ who has released music under various monikers and aliases over the last five years, racking up an impressive discography with releases on Bedrock, Moodmusic, Fresh Meat and Dieb Audio. His in demand production skills have also awarded him numerous remix opportunities for a wide range of artists such as: John Digweed, King Roc, Sasse, Sander Kleinenberg and Shlomi Aber, among others.

Some of Stelios Vassiloudis’ most vocal DJ supporters over the years have been Sasha, Josh Wink, Laurent Garnier, Satoshi Tomiie and Stephan Bodzin. As a DJ Stelios has travelled across the globe playing his particular brand of deep house and techno to enthusiastic crowds in locations such as Brazil, China, Colombia, Russia and Japan among many, many others.
