Body Language 7 mixed by Matthew Dear
- album review
The well respected and sought after music artist, producer and DJ, Matthew Dear has released one of the finest DJ Mix CD’s I have heard in a long time.
Body Language 7 is the latest release in the renowned Get Physical’s Body Language mix series.
Body Language 7 is said to be a very personal selection by Matthew Dear and one that reflects his own artistic interests, concerns and strategies.
The album is a perfect mellow journey that gathers some pace along the way. But there’s nothing hard or at all techno here.
Dear cleverly combines both ‘body’ and ‘language’ into this warm, sensuous collection of cutting edge dancefloor music that he weaves together so perfectly.
The mix is 20 songs and approximately 90 minutes long – perfect. Quality over quantity. Some mix CD’s attempt too much and can become overstretched and boring.
Body Language 7 includes an exclusive new track by Matthew Dear – Free To Ask, which is possibly a clever selling point. I’m sure the record label, Get Physical is aware some fans of this hard working electronic music affecionado will simply buy the CD on the strength of this one exclusive track. But if they do I would be surprised if any of them are at all disappointed.
What helps to make Body Language 7 mix CD stand out from the ubiquitous pile of mix CDs released every week is the way Matthew Dear appears to have purposely chosen artists and tracks that create a different path from A to B. The ride is twitchy, unsafe and a little dark in places; which makes it all the more enjoyable.
Body Language 7 mixed by Matthew Dear is now available on Get Physical Records as a CD or 2×12″ vinyl release.
