Album Review: Telos – Nightend (Bear With Me records)
Nightend by Telos sounds like one man’s fight with electronica nightmares, a furthest cry from Phil Oakey’s over produced commerically successful electronic dreams. This is down and dirty, among the never regions of something much more disturbing.
Ian Todd’s (aka Telos) voice is used sparingly among analogue sound, waves and movements in the most experimental form, like a soundtrack to a lo-fi dark sci-fi b-movie.
Words are spoken as a poet not a vocalist and the songs mainly rely of frequencies rather than beats, with exception to track 10, Communicate With Me, with its rapid tomtom rhythm that conjours up a frenzied tribal wardance around a jungle campfire.
If you like dark, heavy brooding experimental analogue abstractions, this is for you.
Nightend by Telos is released on Bear With Me Records on 31st March.
